Description

A 10-minute, simple stewed apple recipe, spiced warmly with cinnamon and cloves. Perfect as a snack or topping oats, pancakes, yogurt, and more.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp are what I use), cut into chunks
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves (or 2 whole cloves)
  • Optional: small pinch salt

Instructions

  1. 1. Add ingredients to a pot. Place apples, water, cinnamon, and cloves in a small-medium pot.
  2. 2. Simmer. Bring the apples to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 10 minutes. You can leave the pot uncovered or cover it partially - either will work. Top oats, French toast, or pancakes, or enjoy warm on their own!

Notes

1. Apples sizes. You can also cut apples into slices. I like to do this when I'm eating them on their own, but I prefer the bite-size chunks when I'm topping things.
