A twist on classic apple crisp, this almond butter apple crisp is a healthy-ish, real food dessert recipe with PLENTY of cinnamon, that'll make your house smell amazing. Almond butter, oats, and spelt flour give that topping some extra texture and heartiness.

  • 5-6 cups Granny Smith apples, sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp apple pie spice (or cinnamon)
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup spelt flour
  • 1/4 cup almond butter
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp apple pie spice (or cinnamon)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Place apple slices in a large bowl. In a smaller bowl, whisk together brown sugar, lemon juice, apple pie spice, and corn starch. Pour mixture over the apple slices and toss to coat. Transfer apple mixture to the baking dish and spread apples into an even layer.
  3. In a food processor, combine butter, oats, spelt flour, almond butter, maple syrup, salt, and apple pie spice.
