A refreshing and hydrating fruit salad you can enjoy ALL summer! This watermelon berry fruit salad is a simple and fresh fruit salad with berries, tossed in a honey lime dressing and lots of fresh mint. Ready in 10 minutes!
Normally we think of dressing vegetable salads, but have you thought about a dressing for fruit salad?! At first it might seem over the top, because fruit is so good on its own, but hear me out. Adding honey, lime, and mint to fruit salad is such a refreshing (and easy!) way to level up fruit salad in any season (even winter, citrus mint fruit salad).
For this salad, I wanted it to contain all of my favorite fruits from fruit salad as a kid. I always gravitated towards watermelon and berries more than anything else, and was tempted to pick them out (which was understandably against the rules at our house and I NEVER did it...). So here we are, my adult self making a fruit salad with just those fruits 😉
We make this as a no-cook side for summer dinners, and everyone at our house just devours it. It's also a hit at potluck-style meals! Let's make a batch.
Key Ingredients
You can also add or substitute other berries, such as blackberries or raspberries, or even add in other fruits like red grapes or kiwi. (Totally going for a color scheme here).
Not required, but very fun—I do recommend a melon baller for this watermelon fruit salad recipe. It's fun, plus it makes less of a mess on your countertop.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Step 1: Combine all prepared fruit into a large bowl.
- Step 2: Whisk together lime juice and honey until smooth.
- Step 3: Pour the lime juice and honey mixture all over the fruit and stir to coat.
- Step 4: Garnish generously with chopped fresh mint leaves and some whole mint leaves, and serve! Note: I recommend serving the same day so that the lime juice doesn't break down the fruit too much.
Tera's Sustainability Tips
- Use up fruits before they go bad! If you have leftover blueberries and strawberries to use up, try make a jar of pickled strawberries or this summer blueberry peach salad (one of my absolute favorites every summer!). If you bought a larger watermelon, you could either cut it up to enjoy separately, or whip up this watermelon agua fresca for a hydrating summer drink.
- Store berries for longevity. Wait to wash berries until just before use to avoid them spoiling too quickly in the fridge. Store them in the crisper drawer of your fridge until you're ready to use them.
FAQ
Place any leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for 2-3 days. Once dressed, the lime does start to break down the fruit a bit, so it's best to eat this fruit salad quickly. You could also toss only the amount of fruit salad you need in the honey lime dressing before eating, and store leftovers without it.

📖 Recipe
10-Minute Watermelon Berry Fruit Salad (So Refreshing!)
- Total Time: 10
- Yield: 4 cups 1x
Description
This fresh watermelon fruit salad with berries is tossed in a simple honey lime dressing and garnished with lots of fresh mint. Perfect for summer cookouts, or a hydrating snack on a hot day!
Ingredients
- 2 cups watermelon, scooped out with a melon baller
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cups strawberries, hulled and quartered
- 2 tablespoons honey
- juice of 1 lime (at least 2 tbsp)
- ½ cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves, roughly chopped into small pieces
Instructions
- Combine fruit. In a large bowl, combine watermelon, blueberries, and strawberries.
- Make honey lime sauce. In a separate small bowl, whisk together honey and lime until smooth and combined.
- Dress fruit salad. Pour honey lime mixture mixture onto fruit and toss well. Garnish with lots of fresh mint, and serve!
Notes
- Storage instructions. Store leftover fruit salad in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. The lime starts to break down the fruit the longer it sits, so the texture can get a little weird. Best to enjoy quickly or add the honey lime dressing just before eating.
- Watermelon shapes. I love using a melon baller for this recipe because it's similarly shaped to the blueberries, but it's not absolutely necessary. Cutting into cubes would be just fine as well!
