Wholesome Desserts & Baked Goods
When it comes down to it, I think real ingredients and balance are the key to delicious desserts and baked goods! That means sometimes dessert is just meant to be dessert and our priority is to feed our soul rather than max out our produce intake. That said, we love it when these overlap in recipes like fresh peach crisp or wholesome raspberry lemons muffins.
Baking is a great opportunity to experiment with different grains and flours, not necessarily because of health reasons, but more from a culinary perspective. For instance, the nuttiness of spelt in my spelt flour banana bread is so good, and spelt bakes up really similarly to all-purpose.
I also love buying local flour whenever possible, and it's become so accessible where I live in the Midwest. I encourage you to check out locally milled flours where you live! In the meantime, browse below for some nourishing weekend baking projects.
